Fire Quickly Under Control

Half-Acre Blaze Began Off San Marcos Road

Sunday, August 8, 2010

Firefighters moved quickly to gain control of a fire just west of Old San Marcos Road Sunday evening. Five engine companies, a water tender, hand crews and two dozers were mobilized after what was named the Ridge Fire began at roughly 5:22 p.m. Sunday near 1160 Old San Marcos Road.

The fire was contained to about one-half of an acre, as firefighters were able to establish a perimeter around the fire. Tankers were originally requested, but eventually called off.

While not over, the fire is close to being contained.
