On this week’s Poodle Radio, Colin Marshall is joined first by oceanic filmmaker Michael Hanrahan, who’s also president of the Ocean Channel, the director of the Santa Barbara Ocean Film Festival, and the co-founder of the Blue Horizons environmental media program at UCSB. They discuss Michael’s career and the origins of his interest in the ocean as well as his recent experience traveling to the Gulf Coast, getting a first-hand look at the damage caused by the recent oil leak and the effectiveness of the efforts thus far to combat its effects.

Then, StylePhile Shannon Kelley returns to the KCSB studio, this time bringing along a guest of her own. Kenny Osehan is the co-proprietor, with Chris Sewell, of State street’s Presidio Motel, which is fast becoming one of Santa Barbara’s most well-regarded, well-aestheticized event spots. They talk about the conversion process that has taken what Kenny describes as a “crack motel” onto a whole new plane of design, sophistication, and—most important of all—cleanliness. As the latest step in this transformation, Kenny and Chris have opened a shop on the premises called The Supply Room, which offers everything from shoes to jewelry to Japanese chocolate toothpaste.

Also included is, as always, plenty of music from bands and artists who have played S.B. recently or will come here soon. Rounded up as always by Poodle Radio music producer and Indy associate arts editor Aly Comingore, these include tracks from Joanna Newsom, Gifts from Enola, and Neal Casal.
