Biography: Carmen Lodise was an activist in Isla Vista 1972-2004. As an elected official he participated in establishing Isla Vista's first park system and was a leader in three campaigns to establish a City of Isla Vista. From 1987-89 he published the Isla Vista Free Press, which was the town’s longest running weekly newspaper. His ISLA VISTA: A Citizen’s History (2008) is available around town and at www.Amazon.com He now lives in Atascadero, Calif. and Barra de Navidad, Mexico.
