I was curious about this so looked up the organization, the person who was putting it together appeared to have no qualifications to run this type of home at least not posted on their website. The only information on their history seems to be teaching a martial arts class which does not qualify one to run a group home whether you are a recovering alcoholic or not, how come there is no concern about that?

I think I will vote for Hodges over the two retreads who would just be more of the same disaster state government has been for years. Stoker and Jackson both the extremes of their party which has led to absolutely nothing being done but gridlock in state government with the track record to prove they are the problem.

She grew up skating at the Ice Patch and she wants to build another one? The Ice Patch closed its doors for a reason namely a lack of interest or does she not recall that. While her generosity is inspiring it also seems severely misguided.

after your comment looked a little further and there were some of the biggest dispensaries who did support 19 and legalization while others just wanted to protect profits. I still support full legalization though the current system is ridiculous with its legal if you pay the doctor, illegal if you don't. But thanks for the link!

Didn't the dispensaries donate fairly heavy against the last ballot inititiave legalizing marijuana? That industry is a bad as big pharma - my opinion is screw the people profiting of the loophole in the law that created the semi-legal area of marijuana at the moment. Its time for full legalization of marijuana and the drug dealers whether masquerading as a dispensary or selling in a parking lot can deal with a open market.

The Post Office should keep it, they can pull in other Federal Agencies to be tenants and make money. In addition being the Federal Government, landmark or not they don't have to go thru the local planning process to make certain interior changes to the facility. Whatever they sell it for in 10 years they will probably spend that amount on rent/improvements for a new space.

Poor Mr Butler being new to town he didn't realize the whole "Gateway to Santa Barbara" description is already in use by the ghost town on lower state aka/ Ritz Carleton luxury hotel development.

In the future he should check other failed developments for signature descriptive comments already in use before trying to appropriate their intellectual property.

On his other points he does make some sense I guess, maybe Salud's "split the baby" shorter term tax break proposal might get some traction.

I'm all for smacking the banks but in the interest of fairness they should also look for fraud in mortgage documents that people lied about their income on.

A huge loss for those whose voice he was and we can only hope those who follow him in the position will have just a little of the passion and compassion he brought to those he helped.

Thank You Ken Williams, and best wishes on the next phase of your journey, you have earned it.

Hank:

Since you mention the JDL you do know a former leader of that group and other members were arrested by the FBi in the months after 9/11 for plotting to bomb the offices and kill a member of Congress from California, as well as bomb a southern California Mosque?

As for the Palestinian Authority backing the Nazis, there was no Palestinian Authority before or after the Nazi's as the region was under the authority of the British Mandate.

The Festival has the right to invite anyone they want and keep politics out if they choose. The festival should be a good time I am looking forward to checking it out. My only regret is that I wish we had the even bigger lineup of ethnic festivals that there used to be at Oak Park.
