On The Celebrity Defense

It sounds like an interesting idea that should be tried. As mentioned I drive down De La Vina and will stop if pedestrian is in croswalk. That is THE LAW. If I don't notice person or they are hesitating on curb and not in crosswalk yet I continue. By the way posted speed limit is 25 to 30 mph on this & most residential streets. Flag may make pedestrian more visible and signal intent to cross.

Interesting article and I agree with point of view. I like to share road. I am mostly a driver & perestrian and would like to encourage cyclist to use bike lanes designated on streets. Especially Castillo and Bath Strrets and Beachwalk/path next to Cabrillo Blvd. Forward thinking people put these in [lace years ago. I go down De L a Vina ofen and do go around cyclist as ther are two lanes but sometmes have pople on sidewalk cycling or on street when Castillo has dedicated lane two blocks over. Ther is nice [ath from Modoc area to UCSB too. Pehaps non threating discussion to increase awareness of current resources and options.

Rather ignorant comments so far. People are arrested and placed in jail then subsequently it may come to light they are illegal immigrants. They are currently identified and turned over to INS for transportation and possible deportation. It takes time and in the mean time you have to house, feed, and provide personell to operate to jail where they are at. Ignorant people are impatient but that is how it is. Someone has to pay for the operations and if not from one funding source then another or cut services.

I agree with waz. I think local grocers already offer incentives to people to reuse bags and I like the option of plastic bags. They are easy to recycle. That they are not better recycled is not good but that is the free market system. I would think alot of products could be made with them. Bench seats. What about plastic garbage bags people use. Do you want to ban those too? When your do gooder volunteers go out to clean up roadsides and beaches what you puttin' the trash in eh? I reuse my grocery bag for trash bag regularly. If bag gets lose from dump maybe operate the dump better. You think everybody will stop putting trash in plastic bags? Get real.

I have read some interesting emails regarding this. Some make a point that it is raising a gauntlet that Islam has made a victory against the infidels (non believers in Islam) and put it in peoples face that Islam was victorious. Some point out that Islamic countries such as Saudi Arabia would not permit a Synagogue or Christian Church to be built in there Capitol or large metropolitan city.

Don't bet on it Draxor. In fact he'll probably have a fine and be back on the road. Watch out for it in your rear view.

It seems very popular to bash Fiesta in comment section.I enjoy it myself. I enjoy performances by young people at events throughout the town. I enjoy the mercados and the local non profits count on them to raise funds.I enjoy Noches de Rhonda as a free public performance. There are always those who don't enjoy public events though and those who perceive them as a threat. As yourself why.
